4 FEBRUARY 2020 DEARBORN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING NOTES
Present: Jim Thatcher, President, Art Little, and Rick Probst
Also present: Connie Fromhold, Auditor, Andy Baudendistel, Attorney, and Sue Hayden, Administrator
TITLE VI STATEMENT FOR COMPLIANCE was read by Baudendistel as legally required.
OLD BUSINESS
911 Communications Board Appointment - Tabled until 911 board meets- TABLED again
NEW BUSINESS
Road Closures for DC Anti Litter Initiative-Celeste Calvitto- Portion of Whites Hill and Portion of North Dearborn on March 14- Calvitto asked for more support to avoid some near misses on those roads from 8:30 -10:30 and 10:30-noon blocked on two separate sections. There are ways around to detour these closures. Sheriff’s office is on board with this. Approved these closures.
Ordinance to Amend Chapter 32 of the DC Code of Ordinances adding SE Indiana Regional Port Authority- SIRPA- Baudendistel - discovered this doing housecleaning on his files. This was changed to 12 seats by interlocal agreement. Now they are amending the ordinance to have this in our codes of ordinances. Tom Palmer and Terri Randall are the at large county appointments we have until the end of 2020. Each of the 3 cities has 2 at large appointments for 4 years also. The Mayors of the cities serve as does a Commissioner. Jim Thatcher is the Commissioner and Chairman of this board. Next meeting is March 20 at 1 PM in Lawrenceburg City Chambers. Approved.
Approval to move forward with RFP for Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract- Sue Hayden- wants to move forward with the proposal. She read the advertisement requesting RFPs until 3/20/20. Thatcher is the contact for this project. Thatcher said they had done an energy audit and they are pursuing some avenues to see if they can improve the energy usage in the county. Approved to place the ad.
Signature for 2020 Initial Boundary Validation Program for Census- Hayden said the census has sent a boundary CD and Planning Dept has looked at the CD and verified that the boundaries are OK for the county and Probst is heading this up. Approved the validation of boundaries
ADMINISTRATOR – Sue Hayden- PAWS 2020 Contract- the same contract that we’ve had for past years. Just missed signing it in January Approved.
AUDITOR – Connie Fromhold -Claims/Payroll and January 21st Minutes approved.
ATTORNEY – Andy Baudendistel- nothing more.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS- Little- no comments
Probst- Census workers needed $21.50 /hr for part time flex working employees Job fair at IVY Tech at today and tomorrow
Ohio has signs all over. 45-60 days before election OK in Indiana for signs.
Thatcher- the energy costs can be lowered by half to get LEDs and motion detectors for lights to go on and off at night. Solar is a possibility. But actual return on investment needs to be determined. Expenses for utilities are going up- so put measures in place now. Little said they did cut electric in half at LIONS building and the Food Pantry.
LATE ARRIVAL INFORMATION
PUBLIC COMMENTAndy Baudendistel wanted to get the word out about a South Dearborn/Lawrenceburg game at LHS to do a coaches vs cancer event. For 20 years after Steve Blackwell’s death. John Blackwell, his son is in charge.
Team in Orange and Red uniforms etc. February 21st is the event date.
