LAWRENCEBURG BRIDGE PLANS TO BE FINISHED BY 2009-10

LAWRENCEBURG BRIDGE PLANS TO BE FINISHED BY 2009-10

Sometimes I get pleasantly surprised and positively encouraged at a meeting. Such was the case at the 5 PM meeting Tuesday at Lawrenceburg’s Council Chambers , where their consultant unveiled what is close to a final draft on the plans for the second bridge across Tanner’s Creek parallel to the original one.

I was definitely not a fan of the original proposal for this bridge, but after their presentation, which included a really cool simulated drive through all aspects of this region from Front Street to Doughty Road (past Kroger’s), I told Mayor Bill Cunningham that I liked this plan.

It was unfortunate that so few people came to see the presentation. If another opportunity presents itself, I would encourage anyone who drives this stretch of road to check it out.

Some of the highlights that might be of interest:

There are one- way roads.

There are limited access points to US 50 with Main Street being eliminated and Front Street accessing through a one stop access to the access ramp around the block.

Lights for the access ramp and the intersection at Front Street will be synchronized.
Shipping Street returns as a useful access East Bound.

CVS moves to a new location in the NAPA area and it moves to a new spot.

Arby’s eventually moves and PLAZA Road connects Doughty to US 50 at a light. The old Doughty intersection becomes a cul-de-sac.

The Shell station will be bought out.

US 50 East bound is across the old bridge- West bound is the new bridge.

The bridge is 2-3 lanes depending on where located on the ramps. The mid –section of the ramp is 3- lanes to accommodate switchover traffic between west bound traffic and those getting off at Old 48.

All but about 30 days of tie in work will be done without disrupting normal traffic flow!!!

Construction is planned to hopefully begin in Spring 2008.

So from my paragraph comprehension skills I gather that Crissy can be bought by a "really cool" animation!

Who was the presenter?

Ahh!!!

The Dearborn County Realtor/Devevoper "POWER-BRIBERS" once again spew their venom!!!

We don't need no stinking bridge!!!

We need more lawyers suing honest, taxpaying citizens to hook-up onto sewers nearest the realtor and developers' next proposed subdivision!!!

You fellas and fellaettes get a little testy before HONEST elections, don't ya?

Translation:

"We can't have a project that benefits all Dearborn County residents and not just the few realtor/developer special interests!!!"

As compared to your taxpayer, pick-pocket skills?

As compared to your election-rigging skills?

As compared to your Vieste Contract comprehension skills?

Or as compared to your back-office, closed-door, conniving skills?

When reached for comment, a DCEDI spokesperson stated:

"I was rather hoping for a "Magic Circle!" NW Quadrant bridge.

RE:So from my paragraph comprehension skills I gather that Crissy can be bought by a "really cool" animation!

Who was the presenter?

Answer:
The presenter was Sean Porter and others from Structurepoint formerly ACE. They have worked locally on Greendale's Levee and Argosy and more info can be found at www.structurepoint.com

The part of the plan that impressed me was the solutions applied to internal traffic flow issues from the earlier versions.
The "really cool" animation was just icing on the cake. It took what could have been a boring presentation and made it easy to digest. Education and entertainment often go hand-in-hand.

I bet if we look hard enough, we can find they are in the back pockets of our wonderful commissioners.

I have been racking my brains trying to figure out a solution
to traffic jams along eads parkway and I have just the solution. How did Cincinnati solve the congestion proplem of bumper to bumper traffic? The main solution would to build not just one bridge on Main street in downtown Lawrenceburg . I believe that the answer ladies and gentlemen would be to build a total of THREE BRIDGES going from one side of the river to the other side of the river. If the big boys have a few bridges and Lawrenceburg needs more than one bridge. When you have all these bridges running across the ohio river drivers have more than one bridge to go over, nonetheless the great idea about this is that all the traffic does not flow over just one bridge but afew bridges.Like I mentioned earlier Cincinnati and Kentucky have more than one bridge its time for Indiana to start playing with the other state . Think over my suggestion it might just solve the congestion for good! This is a lot of fun typing and I'm happy to get my ideas forwarded to the proper web sight. THANKS AGAIN AND HAPPY TRIALS TO ALL IN INDIANA BRIDGE LAND! P.S. Remember PLANNING AND ZONING OFFICIALS THE SOLUTION FOR LAWRENCEBURG AND INDIANA IS THREE OR MORE BRIDGES OVER THE OHIO RIVER.
