Dearborn County GOP Chairman Election Speech- March 1, 2025

 GOP Chair Speech

Growth comes with growing pains.  In 2020, there were only 11 PCs elected.  In 2024, 74 Republicans sought election to be PCs for the 45 precincts in our county.  Together, we have strengthened the Republican party here in Dearborn County and there is room for all of us to be involved.  This competition is good and healthy for our Party!  Remember, competition brings out the best in each of us.  If we want more engagement in the future, we should embrace the chance to compete, not shy away from it or worse yet, push others out.

Would any of you honestly want to go back to a party where 11 people were elected, and then selected whoever they wanted to fill the remaining 34 spots, allowing them majority vote in a caucus?  How would you feel if the shoe were on the other foot?  Those who have recently gotten involved just want to have a voice for themselves and those in their precinct, and can anyone fault them for this? Maybe one of the reasons we are seeing more people getting involved is because they know their voice has not been heard in the past.   Over this past year, we have achieved a more balanced party, and today, we have the chance to unify this party.

In the success book, Good to Great, Jim Collins talks about getting the right people on the bus, then in the right seats, and getting the bus heading in the right direction.  Today, each of you get the chance to vote for who you want driving this bus.   While both of us share much in common, here are a few of the differences.  One is older, retired, lives in Hidden Valley, moved down here from Indianapolis, and has attended the Republican club meetings.  The other is younger, owns a local business, Grew up here, lives on the west side of the county, and hasn’t just attended meetings, but has encouraged new people to get involved, helped find people to serve on boards, increased competition in the primary ( which is the only place competition exists because the county is 85% Republican ) knocked on doors, put out signs, raised money for candidates, and as a certified constitution coach, has taught local classes on the constitution, and the founding fathers.

If you want to have a winning team, choose the right coach.  If you want a profitable company, hire the right CEO.  If you want a winning country, vote republican.   Whatever you want this party to become, elect a chair that most resembles your vision for the party.

If you agree with the status quo of the party 4 years ago and would like to see this bus head back in that direction, don’t vote more me.

I believe this party has the potential to have an influential future, not just in our county, but also in our state!  Elected or not, I will continue to encourage everyday citizens to get involved.  It would just be nice to be working with the establishment instead of against it, just because I keep getting pushed out.  President Trump said, “Relish the opportunity to be an outsider”.  I realize I’m the outsider in this county, and I’m perfectly ok staying that way. But it’s also true that we can accomplish more if we all row together, and I’m running for GOP chair because I believe we can accomplish more for the greater good of our county by coming together and forging a united & Strong party.

On a side note, I’ve lost every time I’ve run for office.  If I lose today, it will be the 5th time. With momentum like that, soon, I’ll have lost more elections than Abraham Lincoln!
