Maynard "Truman Capote" Barrett believes we need more strip malls and that the DCRSD is somehow a capable body to save us from all our septic system evils.

While he glosses over the main problem in this County today is fixing past developer created sewer nightmares like Hidden Valley Lake and High Ridge Estates.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Just another development shill looking for ways to force us to pay for the development of a few politically connected development interests.

Does Gary Puckett get any money from development interests?

Anonymous said...

Maynard will always vote in the best interests of developers in Dearborn County!

His support of the DCRSD is proof positive that he is not looking out for the best interests of the citizens of Dearborn County, unless duplication of services, at high and ever increasing costs to citizens, is somehow in our best interests!

Maynard reminds me of Vera with an extra shot of estrogen!

Anonymous said...

Gary Puckett...heavy clay soils...septic systems...same ole talking points...what is his agenda?

Anonymous said...

Tom Orshell sounds like a decent, knowledgeable guy on all the issues.

He seems, to me at least, much more qualifed than the "led around by development nose ring" Rick Fox!

Anonymous said...

Orshell and Hoog seem like decent folks and would make great, independent Commissioners.

Anonymous said...

Scott and Hammond need to get on the Flypod to give this County an idea just how much they differ from development shills, Hughes, Fehrman and Barrett.

Anonymous said...

Orshell seems to have a strong grasp of the benefits of "smart growth!"

Anonymous said...

Notice how Orshell recognizes the value of what Mayor Hedrick has to offer to the sewer debate?

Sure, as denser development expands we are going to need sewers to service such development, but there is no reason to rush such development and their sewers at extraordinary costs to the residents of Dearborn County.

Our goal should be to do what is best for all the residents of this County, not just to cater to a few politically connected developers' bottom lines.

Anonymous said...

The Fly Pod needs to go away, just like Jim West, one of Gary Pucketts good buddies. Gary , your so pro-development, you should leave . Or maybe we need a fly swatter .

Anonymous said...

After listening to Barrott, I now relize how pro-development he is.

Anonymous said...

If reelected, will Rick Fox resign from being Ewbank's butt boy?

Gary "clay soils" Puckett?

Is it Dearborn County's clay soils causing HVL and High Ridge to dump millions of gallons of raw sewage into our waterways?

Anonymous said...

"After listening to Barrott, I now relize how pro-development he is."

There is nothing wrong with being pro-development, unless and of course, like Barrett, one sees the rest of us as fast and easy "marks" to subsidize such development at great personal expense.

Anonymous said...

Sorry to disagree. There is something wrong with being pro-development in wrong place. Dearborn County is a " Pro I want to live in a rural county" type county. Thats why people live here.We want to live in a bed room community.

Anonymous said...

Development is going to continue in this county.

But it has to be "smart" development out from already existiing infrastructure.

Development at a pace that does not require the citizens to get bank loans to pay for it.

Which is not the plan of the thieves at the DCEDI, the DCRSD, LMH, St. Leon Sewers and the old guard development crooks still associated with the VRUC.

Anonymous said...

Some vruc "old guard" development crooks are still working behind the scenes and the backs of HVL residents to garner the worst, most expensive deal for HVL, simply because it will mean more dollars for them personally in the future for their development plans.

Anonymous said...

Maynard "Truman Capote" Barrett

I just listened to him and I thought the same exact thing...

...our local development interests certainly know how to pick "manly men" to represent their positions!

Anonymous said...

Some vruc "old guard" development crooks are still working behind the scenes and the backs of HVL residents to garner the worst, most expensive deal for HVL...

L. Parvin Price expects no less from his dumb ass minions...

All Candidates are generally good people but lets get to real issues. County has no control of what St. Leon does with sewer because they have state law behind them so that should not be an issue for election. The real issues that Council and Commissioners are going to face if elected are: funding the Jail and Justice Center expansion, funding highway and bridge infrastructure needs, and general funding for daily operation of county offices and services. Where is the money going to come from? Council is presently using part of casino money for general operating costs to keep taxes low but money left not near enough to cover funding needs. Candidates need to tell us what are their priorities and how do they plan to fund shortfall or what services they are going to cut to balance budgets. That is the real issue. No candidate is talking about the real issues. I want to know how much will my TAXES be raised, will I have police and EMS services, will we have to close roads due to no money to fix slips or replace bridges. Will we have to let criminals out early because we have no room or we can not afford to house them. Only thing I hear is I'm against forced sewer hookups, for smart growth, for development that increase the county tax base and saving taxpayers money. These are wonderful ideals but not much count when choosing my representative for county government. I need to know if his or her priorities are the same as mine. Do they agree with me on what services am I will to pay higher taxes for and which ones I am not. You think reassessment raised your taxes just wait and see what happens in the next 2 years. Only 2 solutions to funding crisis, raise taxes & fees or cut services. The candidate who has the same priorities as myself on the county's funding crisis is the candidate I want to represent me regardless of party.

Anonymous said...

Forced sewer hookups, costing citizens tens of thousands of dollars are a TAX placed upon residents to subsidize development.

Poorly thought out and run quickee sewers concerns with ever increasing rates are a TAX on the citizens of this county.

All this talk about expanding our tax base is fine, but it is empty talk.

More development always leads to higher taxes and costly infrastructure costs.

Anonymous said...

could you point out what leaders in offices have done for the people we here what there going to do nothing in 3 years.

Anonymous said...

Voting the right people into the commissioners' office and county council is a way to keep any more of our money flowing to St. Leon.

Voting the right people into the Lawrenceburg council has proven effective to starving St. Leon for funds.

Anonymous said...

Gravity sewers is the only acceptable approach for this county's future needs.
The DCRSD wants to force us on their crappy pressurized sewers in order for a few politically connected development interests to make a fast buck.

Anonymous said...

Nothing is going to get done in this county until those who support an all or nothing hyper-development scheme realize they cannot bully the rest of us to just roll over and play dead. The Comprehensive Plan was a good start to finally getting things going in this county, but what happened? It did not give developers free reign to do as they please, so they had their flunkies table it. Until we have adults back in office who understand and respect the "many" different and divergent opinions of the residents of this county, nothing will be accomplished.

Anonymous said...

The candidate who has the same priorities as myself on the county's funding crisis is the candidate I want to represent me regardless of party.

Well then, you cannot support Hughes, Fehrman nor Barrett then. Their plan to subsidize developers will not lower taxes and will force you to your local bank to get a loan to pay for it.

Anonymous said...

Sustainable growth cannot be maintained if it is premised upon hoodwinking the public, like what was tried with the NW Quad and the St. Leon, DCRSD and the failed attempt of the VRUC old guard sewer scammers!!!

Anonymous said...

What has Hughes, Fox, Fehrman and Barrett done for this county? Other than to prove time and time again they will support development at any and all costs to the rest of us?

Anonymous said...

The next time some dimwit talks about the need for county-wide sewers, let him or her state the entire cost of such sewers. Not just the cost of the sewers and sending out forced hookup letters. For every homeowner forced on such sewers they will have to expend at least $10,000.00 or more...no one even has a number on the upper end of dollars that will need to be spent by those who are not near the line running in front of their property.

Anonymous said...

Has Maxwell even received a "forced hook-up" letter?

Who appointed this hypocritical and arrogant bastard to the dcrsd, where he is trying to forced the rest of us to hook-up?

Anonymous said...

Barrett would be tickled pink if he could transform Dearborn County into yet another mess like Warren County.

He has absolutely no grasp on why people move here and/or have remained here their entire lives.

He needs to broaden his circle of acquaintances to those who are not DCEDI, DCRSD or members of the development community.

Anonymous said...

County has no control of what St. Leon does with sewer because they have state law behind them so that should not be an issue for election.

Another phony "our hands are tied" defense, "now let us move on to tie our hands further and force hookups on the rest of the county, for development's sake!"

Your act is really getting old!

Anonymous said...

County has no control of what St. Leon does with sewer because they have state law behind them so that should not be an issue for election.

Like "Jim Crow" laws?

A law proposed and brought forth by corrupt, in-pocket politicians, is not the same as a moral imperative to blindly follow such law.

Anonymous said...

Remember, we would not even need to be dealing with the crooked DCRSD today but for 3 corrupt and easily led politicians and a conflicted shyster!!!

Anonymous said...

The real issues that Council and Commissioners are going to face if elected are: funding the Jail and Justice Center expansion

Remember it was Fehrman toting residential development as somehow a "cash cow" to pay for the new jail!

When everyone knows that the type of residential development he was proposing would eat up more tax dollars than it would bring in!

Anonymous said...

In the race for Republican commissioner nominations, incumbent Jeff Hughes has $13,500 in his war chest.

How sad, Hughes is the best that development can buy!!!

Anonymous said...

No one with more signs has or will ever lose by wider margins than Jeff Hughes...

Anonymous said...

What next?

Rick Pope will pretend to be a proponent of "smart growth" to bleed off votes from Scott?

Rick, everyone already knows you are good buddies with Maxwell.

Anonymous said...

State Law requires Tom to resign from Highway if he wins office. Tom is making it a big campaign issue but he has no option. But why tell the uninformed voters the complete truth. It's called conflict of interest.

Anonymous said...

Maynard Barett, the developers' pawn.

He will always vote in the best interests of the County, especially for development of the County!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey, Maynard, there are seven Council members, not six. And highway is not the biggest expense, the courts and jail system are. These and other inaccuracies make one wonder if Barrett is up to the challenge any more.

Anonymous said...

Why is Orshel focusing his campaign on Listerman? Listerman is dealing with highway issues, because that is is job. He is not posting or broadcasting any comments about any candidate. So why is Orshel and is family attacking highway?

There are a lot of issues that need help in the County and that's what the candidates should be telling us how they plan to respond.

As far as stolen signs: signs for Witte, Scott, Orshel and Kraus are being stolen. It is a sad commentary on our County when people cannot abide free speech and let the Citizens decide. They are obviously afraid of real competition. Like a former County Commissioner threatening a business for allowing the display of a candidates sign, that she feels might beat "her boy".

How True, How True. Lets get to the real issues. Justice Center and Infrastructure funding and costs are the true issues facing the county, but no candidate talks about. Is there a reason?

Anonymous said...

Like a former County Commissioner threatening a business for allowing the display of a candidates sign, that she feels might beat "her boy".

The quicker we close this chapter of backwater bully politics the better!!!

Anonymous said...

Is that past commissioner still campaigning for Hughes during tax dollar patronage time?

Anonymous said...

Vera will absolutely lose her mind when she finally realizes after this year's elections, hack politicians like herself will never again be voted into office.

Anonymous said...

All the big talk of encouraging development by Hughes and Fox has brought us what?

Practically everything they come up with is based upon the rest of us either dipping into our savings to subsidize development or that we sell are land at bargain basement prices in order to better the profits of handful of politically connected development interests.

Anonymous said...

With Vera Benning campaigning for Hughes, expect Scott to win in a landslide!

Anonymous said...

If Tom Orschell would have a conflict working for the highway department, why doesn't Bill Ullrich who works for the sheriff's department? Or when Aaron Negangard was deputy prosecutor and on council? What is the difference?

Anonymous said...

Commissioners have ultimate authority over Highway. Council does not. However, Ullich should recuse himself on votes that have any effect on the sheriffs department. Ullrich should not be involved in or vote on Sheriff budget or deputy salaries, etc.

Anonymous said...

Poor Vera, she really thought she fit in with that great bunch of bullies and stooges.

Now, she is out of office, Hughes will lose the primary, Fox will lose in the general and Bob Ewbank will be forever banned from being a county attorney.

Karma is a bitch.

Anonymous said...

"WELCOME TO WALMART! I USED TO BE A COMMISSIONER!"

Anonymous said...

Benning, Fox and Hughes all thought they were "Movin' All Up!"

Now the they are in the process of a full blown eviction and they are now "Movin' All Out!

Anonymous said...

If Tom Orschell would have a conflict working for the highway department, why doesn't Bill Ullrich who works for the sheriff's department? Or when Aaron Negangard was deputy prosecutor and on council? What is the difference?

There is no difference,
And did they recuse themselves from discussions and voting at all times?

Vera is not only losing her mind...she stutters!

What a poor, poor power hungry wretch!

Vera's "press" has only enabled her to get a few welfare patronage jobs.

When the new and improved public officials are elected to office, she will not even have that.

Ewbank, Lehner, Messmore, Morris and whoever else played her, will not even make the effort to pass around the hat for donations for this broken and pitiful creature.

Anonymous said...

why are you people freaking out about orshel he has never planned on keeping his job at the hwy dept if elected. also tom focuses on MANY county wide issues those who oppose him are the ones who will talk only about hwy dept.

Anonymous said...

Tom Orshell's last Flypod interview had absolutely nothing bad to say about the Highway Department.

Rick Fox and his handlers are most likely the persons pushing this nonsense.

Considering Rick Fox cannot run on his own merits.

Unless the voters view his ability to turn to jello in the presence of Ewbank and Maxwell as a plus.

Anonymous said...

Tom Orshell needs to promote county-wide sewers, no matter the cost to the rest of us and all this negative shit about him would stop forthwith.

That is how our Development Punks do business.

Anonymous said...

Dupes like Hughes and snakes like Fox will not even merit a footnote in Dearborn County Political History...

...other than identified as infamous political girlfriends to Ewbank and his posse...

Anonymous said...

Fox and Hughes only hope is to follow the downward spiraling political career of Rodney Dennerline, working desperately to feather their own nests on taxpayer dollars...

Vera's boyfriend, in a previous life, kept the trains running on time...

you go girl that is so cool.....

Anonymous said...

"Rick Fox and his handlers are most likely the persons pushing this nonsense.
Considering Rick Fox cannot run on his own merits."

Now isn't that a strategy for Rick! Pit Orshel against Highway and blame Highway for Orshel's signs and all the while sit back laughing as the public thinks the feud is between Orshel and Highway.

Keep them focused elsewhere, so he can sneak back into office!!

Anonymous said...

Or just choose Hoog and get the best man for the job

Anonymous said...

hoog who

Anonymous said...

hoog who

Anonymous said...

Hoog or Orshell will be a hundred times better than that little arrogant, in the pocket of Development, prick, Rick Fox.

Anonymous said...

Hoog and Scott together with Thompson. 3 independent fair leaders without personal agendas. Decent Dearborn County citizens can only hope and pray.

And you just had to go and queer the deal for the DCEDI supporting Hoog!

Repeat after me:

SCREW THE CITIZENS!"
