 15 AUGUST 2023 DEARBORN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING NOTES


Present: Jim Thatcher, President, and Rick Probst

ABSENT: Art Little (just back home from hospital) with 4 blocked arteries. They found a small calcium deposit in the upper part of his aorta. Keep him in your prayers,


Also present: Connie Fromhold, Auditor, Andy Baudendistel, Attorney, and Sue Hayden, Administrator


TITLE VI STATEMENT FOR COMPLIANCE was read by Baudendistel as legally required.


OLD BUSINESS- none

On 19891 Union Ridge House there is an agreement with Gunter Excavating. The title company was also notified that the court order has been signed by Judge Negangard  to allow the demolition. Commissioners approve the demolition  $14,800 approved for Gunter Excavating to remove the building 


NEW BUSINESS:


Litter Initiative Road Closure- Celeste Calvitto- Georgetown from Fairway to SR1- October 7th from 9am-12pm- HVL people have been helpful with other cleanups and  will help on this too. There is no rain date for this. Approved. 


Permission to be on Cemetery Property- Samy Norris, Director of Programming Archaeological Research Institute- Identity and preserve local archeological sites. The goal of the tour is to look at other sites than the Guard property - they want to take 10 people at a time to the Guard  Cemetery and the Hayes family too.. They will only be walking- no digging. Approved by Commissioners. 


2023 City of Harrison Interlocal Agreement for Fire Protection Services- Sue Hayden $149,448 is the cost for the year. They have fire trucks that go out on all runs per the Fire Chief. Thatcher told him about the LOIT passed this month to give them a heads up on our future. Approved.


ADMINISTRATOR – Sue Hayden- Game Day for Tire Discounters wants to do a commercial on Bonnell Rd by the tunnel and they will do it  Sept 11 or 12 from 4-7 PM. Baudendiatel said they need to work with the sheriff to get an agreement up regarding the road closing etc.This shouldn’t be agreed to just on a handshake. Commissioners  will meet in Sept before the commercial so they have time,


AUDITOR – Connie Fromhold  -Claims/Payroll and  August 1 Minutes were Approved


ATTORNEY – Andy Baudendistel- Signature on Survey for Hospital Property Transfer- Lawrenceburg owned a parcel occupied by Community Mental Health. They have cleaned up the panels into one parcel and it goes back to Lawrenceburg. Approved and signed.


Per Baudendistel.- Anthony Smart, Greendale Attorney - said that Jay McMullen resigned as Building Inspector g=for Greendale. The will send $10,000 to the county and Bill Shelton is OK with taking over Greendales’s Inspections. This is the last of the areas in the county that were doing their own inspections. Approved.


COMMISSIONER COMMENTS :

Thatcher saw the movie - Sound of Freedom- and said it was focused on children and the sex slave trafficking. There are 8,000 people in the Tri state area that are enslaved. He was surprised at the numbers. Recommends seeing it.
