I bet he's having dinner with Jeff Hughes or Rick Fox. Ralph, just don't use any big words and take your book on pig latin to translate what they are saying.

Anonymous said...

Ralph Thompson is a good man.

Let us not lower ourselves to the level of our opposition.

Rick and Jeff are on their way out...

...while I am glad for the taxpayers...

...I still feel for Rick and Jeff.

Anonymous said...

Please strike the above comment from the record about Mr. Hughes and Mr. Fox. The day will come when we can make jokes. Right now the County should be on political lock down. It's not a fun time for this County with all the back-handed dealings. It's time to reform this County to higher ethical standards than it currently has in place.

I would really like to know who Jim West thinks he is! He says Dearborn County is ripe for picking...I bet he does...He and his partners on the EDI are ripe to make a killing if he had his way...How did this EDI group come about?...How can they spend county tax dollars being elected officials?...This group consists of contractors and builders and who knows what else...bankers?...I don't know...This group need to be stopped and Jim West ran out of town on the ass he came in on...

To: Jeff and Rick,
I've know you two for quite a while and I wish you would listen to the people of the county and what they wish to have done to there communities...
Afterall, what you do now will affect a lot of people and families...Create a legacy to be proud of...Don't let the almight $$ control you!

Sincerely,

Steven M. Andres
Lifelong Dearborn Co. resident

If you have any facts concerning Ralph's past, post them!

Why such despair and low spirit.
When you read these posts and comments you wonder why anybody would want to live here with such animosity. Why do you live here if all of these things goin on are so horrible?

Anonymous said...

Life in Dearborn County is great. When elected officials start underhanded dealings that's when taxpayers have to fight. Can I take your check book for awhile? Post your name and address and we can discuss further. Jeff and Rick wouldn't spend $300,000 of their own money like they spend tax payer money. I guarantee it. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I just want ethical politicians....are those words even allowed in the same sentence?

Anonymous said...

"Why such despair and low spirit."

Most folks I know are quite jovial!

Although, they do get a little down in dumps, when they are told, by mouth pieces of the local Development crowd, that they have to remortgage their homes to afford to connnect up to sewers, to subisidize our local population of realtor/developers!

Anonymous said...

Thank your lucky stars, that the local realty industry did not enter into the "gas station, convienient store" business...

...they would have their "agents and and kin" on Commissions, Councils and Boards, utilizing their taxpayer paid Board attorneys, to force the rest of us to meet their overheads, plus 1000% on the gas, and then, to add insult to injury, they will also force us all to buy "super-sized" "Big-Gulps. with each and every fill=up!!!!!!

Would not such Bill be considered DCEDI discrimination?

Anonymous said...

Ha!!!

Expect the DCEDI to serially call Fox, then Hughes...leaving Thompson out of the "phone-tag," to claim this bill is a response too something that only happens in the minds of "Smart Growth" people!

Afterwards, the DCEDI serially called certain members on County Council, and, of course, Brett Fehrman...

...who might as well be on the DCEDI "party line!!!"

Which one of our local Board Attorneys, latched onto this "Serially Meeting" loop-hole, and made it uniquely his or HER own?

He or SHE, must have certainly had the “Best Interests” of the taxpayers of Dearborn County at heart!

What is honest and right?

Forcing, honest, hardworking citizen/tax-payers to go further into dept, sometimes into the multiple tens of thousands, for the "honest and right” to profit from their investments?

Serial Meetings, cutting out honest, hardworking average citizens from what would should be public meetings, concerning the spending of their hard-earned tax-dollars, is ”honest and right?”

Closing down the public, from public meetings, is “honest and right?”

Forming "secret societies" such as the DCEDI, then expecting the poor, abused tax-payer to finance such societies, is "honest and right?"

Is “honest and right” only applicable when “realtor/developers” make all the decisions in this County?

You were caught ”RED-HANDED”, in the County’s “Cookie Jar,” admit such, then go to your ”TIME-OUT” chair, somewhere in the NW Quadrant!

He only wants serial meetings with Jeff Hughes and Jim West and Bryan Messmore and others.... Jeff Hughes says he wants dialogue but doesn't let anyone speak during the meetings, it's after the meeting he will let you speak and then he will look you in the eye and stand his ground and say he hasn't read anything about any proposals talk in circles and get himself all confused. Bryan Messmore has the almighty attitude because he has worked in Batesville at a company that uses logic and makes sound business decisions. Dialogue? That would be nice if the elected officials can have sound business dialogue with the taxpayers and not have serial meetings with each other and spend $300,000 on absolutely nothing. Dialogue? Give me a break.

In answer to your "studies" question:

Studies have already been done...it is just the results to these studies that perturb those who pray for rampant development, to fit the needs of their lifestyles and pocketbooks.

This Malb has no issues with secretive, corrupt government, throwing our tax dollars to shady developers, while, at the same time, they force our poor, abused neighbors, on to sewer lines, at great expense, sometimes, bankrupting expense, to raise the profit margins of these very same developers?

Is he an enthusiast of closing “public” comment to the public?

Or, about rules that were established to keep the tax payers off the County’s Commission Agenda, with questions concerning the spending of their tax dollars, while, “connected” DCEDI and development devotees can be placed on the agenda, with a quick “serial” call to one of their political stooges?

Anonymous said...

To RJP above- you wondered what DCEDI requested money goes for...

Annually- Lawrenceburg contributes a large part I believe $80-100K- Dearborn County is in for $75K but it is a combination deal with the tourism board and their money to the chamber of commerce. Greendale forks over about $10K also I believe - though I've heard they are rethinking that. This is their 3rd year in existence.
The money is spent on West's salary, advertising (some of which is on our local cable channels I hear), and the rest is not able to be accounted for as we do not have access to their financials.
They do register as a non-profit and their tax forms are accessible because of that.
Hope this helps with your questions.

All rural and ascetic sensibilities aside, our present-day infrastructure can only absorb so much.

Future infrastructure can only be planned and advanced just so far.

The tax-payers cannot be seen as a perpetual deep-pocket for the financing of other folks' business interests.

A quick search of what other people are paying in taxes in surrounding communities, such as Nky and Warren County, heavily developed areas, the evidence is their taxes are quite a bit higher than ours.

So, any talk that development, development and more development is the fix for lower taxes, just does not ring true.

And as one smart person said, at one of the public NW Quadrant meetings (after the fact of all of the DCEDI planning):

”MAYBE WE DO NOT WANT TO LIVE WHERE WE WORK!!!”

Anonymous said...

One cannot even begin to compare the "quality" of life in a more rural setting, such as Dearborn County, as contrasted to, strip mall after strip mall, congestion, pollution and all the rest of what has happened in more "development friendly" communities!

Show me one person, who has lived here all their lives, or has moved here, who wants the environment offered by Warren, Hamilton or NKy counties?

Anonymous said...

”Show me one person”

The answer you will get from each, individual realtor/developer, racing for their individual share of the taxpayer subsidized development buck, who each make up, lets say, 1/100th of the realtor/developers, they will tell you they only want to be personally involved in 1/100th the development of above stated counties!

That still leaves us with a 100% mess!

Anonymous said...

"the evidence is their taxes are quite a bit higher than ours."

I don't know much about the comparative rates, but if you measure quality of life, against taxation rates, I would say Dearborn County has them all beat!!!

Anonymous said...

"Benning got appointed as Secretary to the DC Regional Sewer District (DCRSD)"

So, Benning gets up to drive to work, to another County paid job, where she further enables the theft, via enforced sewer hook-ups (to profit her little buddies), of other hardworking Countians who do not work for the County, they just pay taxes to those who would steal further tax dollars from them to finance the politically connected?

I guess it will take more than one election, to take out all the trash!

Yeah, these very same people, "belly-aching," about anonymous blog posts, summon the police to "Public" meetings if you try to make a "Public Comment!!!"

These dip-wits never cease to amaze me!

“The tax-payers cannot be seen as a perpetual deep-pocket for the financing of other folks' business interests.”

Adding insult to injury, these very same development enablers want to offer tax abatements to companies that will build here, guaranteeing that the developers get their money, and still the taxpayer sees no benefit!

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"TAX ABATEMENTS?"

Jim West will have to ask the "TAX-PAYERS" for another $100,000.00, to fund a study on use of "TAX ABATEMENTS!"

Does a Jim West itemized "Study" bill, turned into (Easy) Pickens, resemble one Vieste supplied to the tax-payers?

What is the total amount of tax-dollars, paid to the DCEDI, from County, City, etc., since the DCEDI's inception?

And what did the tax-payers get back, as far as results?

Anonymous said...

perhaps Mr. West could answer that one best. How about it? What exactly have we gotten in return for our investments?

Adding insult to injury, these very same development enablers want to offer tax abatements to companies…

Maybe, our self-confessed, altruistic and civic minded developers and realtors, can abate their “profits,” of their developments, until the tax-payers are completely reimbursed for their “outlays?”

“What exactly have we gotten in return for our investments?”

What have the tax-payers received in return?

Well, they got to invest their hard-earned tax dollars in the DCEDI, an organization, whose main goal, is to invent and endeavor ways for the DCEDI to get around the scrutiny of the tax-payer, while the DCEDI spends the tax-payers’ tax dollars!

Well, at least, the DCEDI, let one of our now-defunked Commissioners feel like a "Queen!"

It probably did not take more, than a little pat on the head, and a little false flattery, thrown her way!

Well, at least the DCEDI respects the Voters enough, in that, if the Voters do not vote for the DCEDI “endorsed” Candidate…

…that’s ok, they will abide by the will of majority…

…as they utilize “Serial Meetings” to get around the peoples’ choice!!!

"…as they utilize “Serial Meetings” to get around the peoples’ choice!!!"

Thanks largely to "Loop-Hole-Lisas" and "Back-Office-Bobs!"

"until the tax-payers are completely reimbursed for their “outlays?”

Including, the use of, dare I say it?

IMPACT FEES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

IMPACT FEES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Impact fees:

An awful, coercive, horrendous and an unspeakably appalling tool, used by atrocious, vile and horrific taxpayers, to steal money, from cherub-faced, faultless, virtuous and wholly blameless “angels of development!”

Anonymous said...

The “politically connected” realtor/developers, "Don’t Need No Stinking Impact Fees!”

Say "Hello To Their Little Friends" in government!!!

They have their entrenched “stooge-servants” in government, to force and coerce, all the neighbors of their individual and particular developments (and trailer parks), to compensate and offset the “politically connected’s” operating expenditures. Thus tallying up more to their bottom lines, while purloining their neighbors’ savings and if not their entire “nest eggs!”

Such neighbors, are forced, by operation of law, to pay the “impact fees” of these unscrupulous developers, via enforced sewer hook-ups, and through taxes, resulting from the additional infrastructure costs, borne by these parasitic “new” developments!

What happened to development from the center, already developed, out?

Why all the leap-frogging?

It, used to be, that center-out, was the only financially feasible method of development, by developers.

Is it because, these developers now can force residents, already in place, to help shoulder their development costs, by forcing them on sewers, etc?

Although, I am very fortunate to live on a farm, I have friends that bought property in the County who did not have a lot of money. They loved the rural setting, so they spent a lot of money, for them, for additional acreage for the County septic requirements. Now, they are being told they have to go to the expense of capping? their septic system, and paying for excavation, sewer line, hookup fees, just a lot of stuff, not counting paying whatever the monthly sewer bill will be. How can our government representatives allow this to happen to honest, church going people?

"How can our government representatives allow this to happen to honest, church going people? "

I wish I had an answer for you.

Like you, I am at a loss.

Sometimes, hard working people, are considered a monetary asset, to those, who may not be so hardworking, but may have "friends" in government, who know how to milk those who are!

Have Messmore and Ewbank, come up with the “No Enforced Sewer Hook-ups” letter yet?

If the two, could just pull themselves away from drafting their “Fantasy Articles Of Impeachment of Ralph Thompson”, they might get something done, for the good, honest people of this County!

Though, I can see why Ewbank so loathes Thompson. Look what Thompson said in the last Planning Commission Meeting:

”Thompson- because someone didn’t do his homework- not our issue- we are charged with protecting the county.”

That ” we are charged with protecting the county” obsession of Thompson, must really burn Ewbank’s Depends.

Ewbank, must miss the befuddled old lady, whose only response to developers was:

”I think 400 houses on 50 acres would fit right in between Smith’s corn fields and Jones’ soybean fields! Just as long Smith and Jones are forced onto sewers! We would not want Smith and Jones to freeload next to their new neighbors!”

"...no one has shown any evidence of."

Tell us when the next meeting of the "public" money funded DCEDI is, and whether or not the "public" is invited?

I see, this question remains unanswered.

No surprise.

Talk, like the tax-payers' money, is cheap, to these development clowns.

I heard the DCEDI is holding "TWO" wakes today to memorialize the passing of “SERIAL MEETINGS.”

The first wake will have Rick Fox as an eulogizer.

The second wake will be eulogized by Jeff Hughes.

Anonymous said...

”Serial Meetings,” thought-out and premeditated by the fetid, to meet the needs of the squalid and the festering!

Shyster innovations to be sure!

But marketed, by loathsome and mendacious politicians, in virtually every case!

The membership role at the DCEDI is no longer correct. Several people/companies are no longer invloved (including the realtor the site lists as being on the board of directors. I know, because I'm him.)

"I know, because I'm him."

Good for you!

Your neighbors welcome you back!
