Get the paper!

Anonymous said...

Why?

My parakeet died years ago!

Anonymous said...

Because they did a fine job on promoting the public involvement in the master plan.
If you don't read- you don't learn.
It's the ONLY source of legalinformation in the county.
Read it- or weep.

Anonymous said...

I do like to read which one of my neighbors got a dui.

Some must really love the press coverage, because they get in the paper a number of times a year!

A couple of our local rags have become just mouthpeaces for the stopping growth at any cost asswholes just like this "public" blog ha ha. If you only want to get one sided anti everything garbage read this so called blog and its partners in the newspapers.

Well...thanks for sharing your views...Sport!!!!!!!!!

There is no logical reason to buy the local paper. It literally takes 3-1/2 minutes to read. Why would I buy a paper and read about whackos like Dr. Rahe saying if we don't have development we will die? Or reading about Yelton's property tax bill? If there was competent people in state and local government we would not have to read and reiterate the fact that they belong in the Make a Wish Foundation.

The owner of Register Publications is a DCEDI member .

Probably one of a only a few who aren't a developer or realtor or banker.

So I see you can exaggerate- it takes longer than 3.5 minutes. And why not read what others think? Are you close-minded or just afraid to see other viewpoints?
Yelton's tax bill went up for one simple reason- the levee was built- ergo his land is now worth a lot more. The question is- did it go up that much?
And the DCEDI was chiding the NW Quad for thinking their land was worth 25% of what Yelton's is now worth...
Well if you sit on it long enough- it eventually becomes worthwhile, I guess.

Anonymous said...

Yelton must feel blessed that his land can now be taxed at such a high rate because of its increased "value!"

When he declares bankruptcy because no one wants to buy his land because they are waiting for "insider deals" on cheap farm land, which their buddies in goverment will then rezone such farm land overnight to commercial land, resulting in windfall profits to the politically connected, Yelton can feel all warm and fuzzy!

Anonymous said...

"Well if you sit on it long enough- it eventually becomes worthwhile, I guess."

Inflation of the dollar is the governments way of "making you feel good".

Anonymous said...

waiting for "insider deals"

The Chamber and the DCEDI, with their "insider" ways, have depressed not augmented the likelihood of commercial development in this County!

Why buy land zoned commercial, if tomorrow, the “movers and shakers” here in Dearborn County will, by shady local governmental political flunky instigated “fiat,” turn cheap farm land to commercially zoned land, wherever a politically connected realtor/developer can buy up such cheap rural land!

Anonymous said...

We need to increase even more the taxible value of our land by permitting our wonderful realtor/developers to force us to connect to and pay for their sewers!

Anonymous said...

And as Charlie "The Taxpayer Fairy" would say:

"ALL OF THIS DISCUSSION OF BANKRUPTCY HIGH TAXES IS INTERESTING, BUT THE REASON WE ARE ALL HERE TODAY, THE REASON WE ALL EXIST IS:

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL WE BE GIVING THE DCRSD THIS FINE DAY????"

Anonymous said...

I think Freitag wrote what most of the advisory members thought after that meeting. How dare Commissioner Hughes attack the process as being not open! Remove the beam in your own eye -Jeffrey- before you go after a speck in your constituent's eye!
Hypocrite!

Anonymous said...

Charlie's a sheepherder lead by the wolves!

Anonymous said...

Jeff and Rick are the sheepherders helpers lead by the Wolves.

Anonymous said...

Rick and Jeff, I have spoken to a number of voters who had not voted your last election but would now purposely vote against you!

Rick and Jeff, I have spoken to a number of voters who voted for you, but now regret their votes!

Maybe you should both recuse yourselves until after the next election...when the voters are better informed?

Anonymous said...

I know people who were not informed as to the objectives of the DCRSD!

Imagine their surprise, Rick and Jeff, when they found out all the details?

So, what do you we suggest we all do?

Since your new, "born again," requirement that the public must be informed, re-informed and triple-checked informed when it comes to matters near and dear to your Development Puppet Masters!

Maybe you could task Thompson with calling citizens relative to the DCRSD?

Maybe, we should just shut down the DCRSD, until Thompson can compile the data?

What do you think, Rick and Jeff?

Anonymous said...

we should just shut down the DCRSD

Anonymous said...

"Maybe you could task Thompson with calling citizens relative to the DCRSD?"

As Bob Ewbank grabs both Rick and Jeff by their ears and drags them out of the public purview, to give them some of his "prudent" legal advice!

Anonymous said...

we should just shut down the DCRSD

It would seem that the DCRSD has plans on "shutting down" the County Council, considering their juvenile manner as they stamped off last Council meeting, girly-crying, that they will no longer come before the Council for the tax dollars they adjudged that they are entitled to!

Look for a temper tantrum laced attempt at a Coup d'État by the political thugs of the DCRSD to supplant the County Council!

Anonymous said...

"It would seem that the DCRSD has plans on "shutting down" the County Council, considering their juvenile manner as they stamped off last Council meeting, girly-crying, that they will no longer come before the Council for the tax dollars they adjudged that they are entitled to!"

LOL.. Just like a father backing a car loan a kid can't afford....dcrsd was requesting alternative financing with their request of a letter of credit from the council.

Anonymous said...

When the DCRSD Board were younger, spoiled and greedy children...they used to threaten those not willing to pay 10 dollars a cup for their lemonade from their lemonade stands...that those not paying their "fair share" today...will be paying their "fair share" ten years from now when these same, spoiled and greedy little "Cuties" get public financing for their lemondade stands!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

It doesn't take 10 years for the lemonade's price to increase.

If you don't hook onto the sewer immediately when it passes your home, It'll cost you 10 times that ammout next week.

Same song...new title!

Anonymous said...

Same song...new title!

But now sung by the DCRSD "Village People!!!"

Maybe if the taxpayers would just by these "boys" a big hot tub to test out their new water wings and other strap-on devices, they would leave the rest of us alone!

Anonymous said...

When young Ralphy Thompson opened up his lemonade stand, a block away, selling lemonade at the going price of 5 cents a cup...

...Little Bobby Ewbank asked his daddy for a restraining order against that "anti-everything poopy-head" Ralphy!

Little Bobby, early on, understood that fair trade is for "non-politically connected" losers and taxpayers!

He later moved on to rigging his grade school class elections!

Anonymous said...

When little Bobby reached middle school, he unsuccessfully petitioned the PTA to shut down public input from parents!

Little Bobby just did not see how parental "public comment" would benefit those in control of the PTA funds!

Anonymous said...

When little Bobby reached High School, he would take down the names of all the slow learners, underachievers and class screw-offs…looking to his future as political king maker...he was building a data base of potential candidates!

Anonymous said...

"When little Bobby reached High School, he would take down the names of all the slow learners, underachievers and class screw-offs…looking to his future as political king maker...he was building a data base of potential candidates!"

Pathetic but soooo true!
Lawyers "learn the ropes" early. It needn't be moral or ethical just legal!

Anonymous said...

Denise Freitag Burdette, is getting aquainted with the "load of crap" we call Jeff, Rick and all their Development flunkies!

This "load of crap" certainly meets the "smell test" of what it represents!

Jeff!

Development better be paying into your 401 K!

If not...not only are you Development's CDAIO (Chief Dumb Ass In Office) you are neither a very good "comphrensive planner" for your own future!

And if you cannot plan for your future, I will be damned if you should be involved in planning our future!

We should place you in a paper bag, light it and place you on Development's door step...

...boy will they ever be surprised as to what they find on their shoes as they stamp out that fire!

Jeff Hughes: the "load of crap" that keeps giving us all so much entertainment for our Develoment "bought and paid for" buck!

Anonymous said...

I would challenge Denise Freitag Burdette to search back into her files to ferret out evidence of how "open" the "process" was when the DCRSD was formed and ratified!

She is just beginning to see how deep the "crap" is in this County!

Anonymous said...

Poor Jeff and Rick!

Stuck forever on the DCEDI plantation!

Anonymous said...

Ending paragraph of Denise's editorial:

The people have spoken. The problem is some people in the county don't want to listen.

Hey Denise!

Kind of like when the republican primary voters had spoken, but Jeff, Rick and their Development masters just were not in the mood to listen to the people's voice!

Playing by the rules is for honest, ethical folks!

Not Development toadies!

Anonymous said...

Those years when Vera Benning was swinging her gavel down to silence Development's opposition...she was really just slinging another "load of crap" for her Development Bosses the taxpayers' way!

By the way, does Benning have any real and taxable means of support other than her lowly patronage job?

I'm educated, my wife is educated, we both do quite well, but neither of us drive around in late model (2)Caddys!!!

Anonymous said...

Little Henry Hughes already has more brain cells than his good ol dad.

Anonymous said...

Hey Rozow, Hey West! Yelton has land for sale. He has prime development land for sale. Why not have secret meetings and hand shakes to make that deal?

Anonymous said...

"Hey Rozow, Hey West! Yelton has land for sale. He has prime development land for sale."

If only Yelton's land was miles and miles from existing infrastructure and zoned rural!

Now! That is the kind of landowner that Rozow and West want to "milk" for everything he is worth!

You see! Rozow and West are not here to help just anyone! They must be the Developer Class...looking to get the most profits as possible, regardless if such profits are at the expense of another Dearborn County Resident, whom Rozow and West pay lip service to representing!

Since Yelton is not in a more "exploitable" position for Chamber and DCEDI members, his "valuable" commercial land is not "RIPE" for the taking!

Now, let his taxes bankrupt him...and Rozow and West's boys will be up front at an "invitation only" foreclosure auction!

May I just add here:

NOT ONE MORE RED CENT OF TAXPAYERS' MONEY SHOULD GO TO THESE BASTARDS!

Anonymous said...

What next?

Are the same ole development enablers going to label Burdette as selfish and a do-nothing for not understanding that sometimes crooked politicians have to lie and cheat for crooked relator/developers in order for the other honest 99% of the community do not find out just how crooked our crooked realtor/developers, crooked politicians and their crooked enablers are?

Anonymous said...

"I'm educated, my wife is educated, we both do quite well, but neither of us drive around in late model (2)Caddys!!!

Some of us do well!

Some of us have to pretend we do well!

Be thankful she is pretty much out of public life and the public's pocketbook, other than sucking the last few drops from a taxpayer financed "pay-back" teat position!

Anonymous said...

I have lived here all my life. This editorial is the very first that truly, truly, truly spoke the unadulterated truth of the goings on this county. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

Freitag Burdette really had her finger on the pulse of the people in that one.
Kudos to the paper- they are doing what a paper should do. Remind the government that they answer to the governed.

Anonymous said...

Remind the government that they answer to the governed.

Not if Ewbank and Company have anything to do with it!

Anonymous said...

"Not if Ewbank and Company have anything to do with it!"

In actuality lawyers have the perfect venue to control the politicians.

LAWYERS are HIRED as CONSUL and FINISH as DICTATORS!

It's imperative the PEOPLE regain control of our government by not allowing the "consul/lawyers" to dictate the political agenda!

Lawyers, as well as politicians, should be hired and fired in the same way politicians are voted out of office!

Anonymous said...

I'm thinking we are going to witness a political "sea change" in the near future!

A number of the same ole, same ole politcally conflicted types are going to be sent packing!

They will have to find other ways to grow their businesses and practices!

The taxpayer has had enough of these political thugs!

Anonymous said...

"Lawyers, as well as politicians, should be hired and fired in the same way politicians are voted out of office!"

It's just a job! Most lawyers have their staff investigate the legality of 90% of the issues.
The personal interjection and front running of the political process are most concerning.

Anonymous said...

Maybe it is time for Lehner, Ewbank and Kramer to take a break from their "stellar" reprensentation of the taxpayer!

The taxpayer just cannot afford them anymore!

And may they take all their "forced hook-up letters" with them!

Maybe we can all send them a few bucks until they get back on their feet!

Anonymous said...

"The personal interjection and front running of the political process are most concerning."

You mean rigging!

What these folks are doing is rigging elections to suit their needs!

Anonymous said...

"Maybe it is time for Lehner, Ewbank and Kramer to take a break from their "stellar" reprensentation of the taxpayer!"

We need a change in legal consul. The present consul is to dictatorial!

Anonymous said...

County paid attorneys telling others in public offices how to vote...is beyond the pale!

Anonymous said...

Denise Freitag Burdette's editorial article in the Journal Press was an excellent dissertation of the present County leadership.

Anonymous said...

Kudos to Denise!

Kudos to Mr. Awad!

You can be a proponent for development and growth, however it may be defined, without resorting to political theft and bullying!

Benning's Husband must be well off
money wise he supports her very well and he is a great guy Don't you wish some nice man would take good care of you.

Benning has worked all her life the 18years she was in public office was also working as a licensed Real Estate Broker in Ohio and Indiana
What have you done?

Does you Husband support you or does you wife still have to support you and buy your meds?

Insurance is cheap try buying some.
