Chamber Alert – Your Support Needed NOW

Chamber Alert – Your Support Needed NOW

The Dearborn County Plan Commission’s Advisory Committee will hold three meetings to seek public comment on three Alternative Future Land Use Maps.

The Chamber believes Alternatives A and B are very restrictive to future development. Alternative C, while still restrictive, is the only one that comes close to providing any opportunity for the kind of balanced growth necessary for our community to move forward, sustain services and enhance quality of life.

What can you do?

Attend one or more of the meetings. Your presence is important and urgent. Participate in the process, ask questions, and express your preference for Alternative C on the note cards that will be distributed.

Those who oppose growth will be there voicing their opinion.

• Sat., March 17 – East Central High School (cafeteria). 1:00 – 4:00 PM
• Wed., March 21 – Manchester Elementary School (gym). 6:00 – 9:00 PM
• Sat., March 24 – Lawrenceburg High School (cafeteria). 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

• Share this message with your co-workers and friends, and urge them to attend.

For more information, contact Mike Rozow at the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce or Jim West at Dearborn County Economic Development Initiative – 812/537-0814.

Economic development, job creation and growth are vital to local businesses and our community’s future.

Someone? Knock on your neighbors’ doors and pose this question:

WOULD LIVING IN THE MIDST OF A DOZEN OR SO HAMILTON COUNTY STYLE SUBDIVISIONS, OR ADJACENT TO A NUMBER OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY CLASS INDUSTRIAL ZONES, ENHANCE YOUR QUALITIES OF LIFE?

Mr. Rozow has absolutely no concept of the “quality of life” desired by the average Dearborn County citizen and taxpayer.

He speaks only for those who would chance to prosper on the backs of such citizens and taxpayers

What can you do?

1. Keep the DCEDI meetings private.

2. Keep Lisa Lehner on the payroll (great ambassador for the DCEDI).

3. Keep encouraging serial meetings.

4. Keep rigging elections.

5. Keep referring to citizen majority opinions as minority positions when they do not coincide with your opinions.

6. Keep referring to “Smart Growth” as “No Growth.”

7. Keep thinking that you know what is best for Dearborn County regardless what the citizens of Dearborn County may deem appropriate.

So far, these tactics and strategies have worked wonders for you all!

and questioned/challenged it on a public informational website? This isn't an anti-development Dearborn County website, it's a public forum website.

This website is overwhelmed/rank with opinions from the anti-development contingent, sometimes extremely personal against the other side of the fence.

So...it's okay for Mueller or Freemond or Thompson to post their opinion/INTERPRETATION of public meetings on here (heavily opinionated) but a general annoucement for public information gets ripped?

Stop being a bunch of Conspiracy Theorists and just solve the problem. And so someone can't use this for fodder - I didn't pay my $5K to the DCletterslettersletters, I really don't even care what they are. I am pro-development but you have to stop acting like a bunch of brats and SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Somebody, correct me if I am wrong. This a private blog...open to the public.

I don't believe any public funds are used to produce this blog.

Now, the DCEDI, is funded with a good chunk of public money, and it is not open to the public.

DCEDI members have an opportunity to post and defend their positions on this site.

The public, is not afforded the same opportunity to do so with the DCEDI.

Any animosity towards the "pro-growth" people is self-inflicted and homegrown.

Your whinning seems to grow in intensity as the public gains a greater voice. Now, why is that?

When you had all the commissioners, council members, serial meetings and very little daylight shed on your dealings, you all were as happy as slopped hogs.

You folks deliberately cut out the public from public matters, involving public funds, but somehow, we are viewed as mean-spirited?

Spare me!

As far as "just solving the problem." We finally forced a smidgen of inclusion from you folks, just so we could be involved in the problem solving process.

Remember, when the "pro-growth" folks controlled matters, we were told after the fact, what was planned and how it was to proceed. Little, or no, public input was permitted. Hell, your team, even went out of its way to restrict public comment at public meetings.

It would seem that to the "pro-growth" people, "problem solving" requires lock-step adherence to any and all directives, cast down from above, from conflicted politicians and their conflicted legal counsel, lead by their noses by their DCEDI handlers.

You folks are finally being subjected to democracy.

Decree by DCEDI edict is no longer the rule.

Up until recently, our local government was not a "Smart-Growth" body but was a "HyperPro-Realtor/Developer" body. Having zero tolerance for anyone offering a counter position.

The pro growth/pro development group has been in control for a while and not only have they NOT solved the problem, they have created many more problems!

Now that the public is having some input maybe there can be some realistic efforts toward "solving the problem."
