THREE PUBLIC OPEN HOUSES SET TO DISCUSS FUTURE LAND USE

The Dearborn County Plan Commission and its staff will be hosting three (3) public open houses in the coming weeks to discuss draft revisions andadditions to the Land Use Element of the County's Comprehensive Plan. All property owners, business owners, and residents within and adjacent to Dearborn County, are encouraged to attend these interactive sessions-which have been staggered in terms of location(s) and time(s) to better accommodate community stakeholders. In addition to advertising for these public sessions in local newspaper, radio, and online forms of media, the Plan Commission is sending postcard mailers to all known addresses within the unincorporated area of the County in an attempt to increase public awareness and interest in this project and its related activities. The first open house is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2007 at East Central High School-located off of Trojan Place in St. Leon- in the cafeteria from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The second session with the public is planned to take place on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Manchester Elementary School-located off of State Road 48 near Manchester-in the gymnasium from 6:00 to 9:00p.m. The third open house is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Lawrenceburg High School-located off of U.S. 50 and Tiger Boulevard in Lawrenceburg- in the cafeteria from 9:00a.m. to 12:00pm.Members from the Dearborn County Plan Commission, Board of Commissioners, and other County officials and staff will be present at these sessions to engage the public to ask questions, document concerns, and assist community members as they perform various tasks related to the development of a futureland use component of the Comprehensive Plan. Discussion and presentation materials will feature preliminary recommendations and findings that havebeen generated over the past two (2) years by the County's Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee as well as a series of draft, alternative future land use maps. Recent meeting summaries, draft alternative land use maps, and all materials that are produced in connection with all of the planned, and prior, public open houses are posted online as they become available on the "Land UseWorkshops" portion of the County's website at www.dearborncounty.org/planning . General inquiries concerning these materials may be addressed by contacting the Dearborn County Department of Planning and Zoning staff. Additionally, public comment forms are available both online and at the County's Planning & Zoning Office for all interested parties and are accepted at any time.
