WHO WANTS TO RUN THE COUNTY?

WHO WANTS TO RUN THE COUNTY?

Info for anyone who’s considering serving in public office in the county:

The deadline to file for candidacy is in mid February, 2008.
This gives potential candidates 10 months to observe the process and see if you are interested.

Two Commissioner positions are up for election in 2008. District 1- Jeff Hughes and District 2- Rick Fox.
If you are unsure of district lines call Phil Weaver, Clerks Office.

Three at-large Council seats are up for election in 2008. Charlie Fehrman, Bill Ullrich, and Mark Mitter.
At-large council members are elected by the entire county. All commissioner seats are elected by the entire county also.

Good luck- looking forward to seeing some new faces and fresh ideas.

Is there a reason why these two district elections are not staggered?

Fresh faces don't get it.
People who are dedicated to Dearborn County and doing positive
things is what is needed not another Thompson.

Yeah! We need more Bennings, Foxes and Hughes to restrict the public from public government!

Yeah! We need more serial meetings…more pay to play organizations such as the DCEDI…more back office and back stabbing of the rank and file by the underhanded Republican leadership!

Yeah! That’s the ticket!

Such corrupt cronies you continue to be!

“People who are dedicated to Dearborn County and doing positive

Generally followed by the shady county leadership demanding the Sheriff’s Deputies remove all non-realtors and non-developers from the county meeting!!!!

Anonymous said...

...not another Thompson.

Let the republican rank and file decide!

Or are you all going to undermine their wishes once again?

Do you even own a mirror?

Anonymous said...

"Fresh faces don't get it."

Like Bribes?

Well then, doesn't that leave more political subornment for the rest of you porkers?

Isn’t that what you porkers call a “surplus?”

As the great Greek comic playwright Aristophanes once proclaimed:

"GIVE ME MORE BENNINGS...I NEED THE MATERIAL!!!"

Anonymous said...

"Is there a reason why these two district elections are not staggered?"

The Commissioner positions are staggered. District 3 was in 2006 and Districts 1 and 2 will be in 2008.

"People who are dedicated to Dearborn County and doing positive

Like keeping development plans secret so they can try to buy farm land cheap, while no one knows, and make a killing after the interstate interchange goes in?!!!

Like trying to make sure the family road is widened and paved at the County expense, so the family can develop their property?!!!

Doing positive things alright; but, for the county? Or themselves and families?

Anonymous said...

"Districts 1 and 2 will be in 2008"

Why are 1 and 2 in the same year?

Anonymous said...

This plan has been so secret it's been on the front page of the local papers and in regional news since January, seen large crowds at public meeting, and been on the public record since mid-2006.

Anonymous said...

Even at the "public" meetings, it was like pulling teeth to get informantion from the "insiders" to these plans.

Why did Fehrman know the plans before the farmers he was soliciting to purchase their farms?

Just open up all meetings and conversations to the "public" when it involves "public matters."

Instead of hiding behind your attorneys.

Anonymous said...

This plan has been so secret it's been on the front page of the local papers and in regional news since January...

And somehow I missed all these "Front Page" articles concerning industrial parks in the NW quadrant!!!

And somehow I missed all these "Front Page" articles concerning sewers for all to support the chosen few!!!

And somehow I missed all these "Front Page" articles concerning serial meetings that kept the public in the dark on matters that should have been open to the public and open to public comment!!!

And somehow West missed all these "Front Page" articles concerning Mr. Iida's public comments about secondary suppliers for the Honda plant. No, "magical circle" seems to exist!!!

Spare us...crony!!!

Your act has grown quite tiresome!!!

Anonymous said...

Like keeping development plans secret so they can try to buy farm land cheap, while no one knows, and make a killing after the interstate interchange goes in?!!!

Did Fehrman even mention to these farmers what his plans were for their farms?

Or even a hint of these NW quadrant plans?

Anonymous said...

Good luck- looking forward to seeing some new faces and fresh ideas.

What new faces will the Republican Leadership present the voters?

How about the Vera Benning/Frank Linkmeyer tag-team matchup again?

Anonymous said...

"This plan has been so secret it's been on the front page of the local papers and in regional news since January, seen large crowds at public meeting, and been on the public record since mid-2006."

We came because we were notified by other citizens, not our own government officials. And even then commissioners didn't want to allow appropriate discussion.

Anonymous said...

People on both sides of these issues resort to saying some pretty stupid things. Everyone needs to remember that this county is pretty evenly split on issues of development. When Batta ran against Maddin it was a 51% to 49%; when Thompson beat Linkmeyer it was 51% to 49%. We need to listen to both sides and find middle ground. The constant polarization by both sides accomplishes nothing!

Anonymous said...

"51% to 49%"

Then, why the fear of open government?

Open up the "closed" meetings.

Reinstate public comment.

You know the drill.

Anonymous said...

The term “development” left undeveloped, so to speak, receives more support than when development is defined in less abstract terms and its impact on the citizens is more precise.

Witness the NW quadrant debacle.

Anonymous said...

Development, even on a much smaller scale, like when the farmer down the road sells his land to a realtor/developer, may be acceptable on one level yet not on another. While many may not be thrilled with such an arrangement, most would respect what another does with his or her land.

The rub is when the neighbors are expected to subsidize such development by politically connected realtor/developers forcing sewers on the neighbors to make the farm land just sold more valuable to the “connected” realtor/developer.

Suddenly, someone else’s “development” directly impinges on another’s quality of life and pocketbook. Thus changing dramatically the tenor and acceptance level of “development.”

It's amazing Realtors (capitalized because they promote their ETHICS training) can do business with inside information. If all businesses operated like this with "inside" information they would all be looked into by the FBI. It's a crying shame someone can operate their business in 2007 like this...I am also curious of the intentions of our Government officials. I believe Tom Cheek was misquoted in the paper...I might be wrong but the stammering mess I heard in the meeting was that he contacted 2 guys he "knew" in Indy and asked them about Vieste. NOT people that actually worked with Vieste. If I ask 2 people in Dearborn county about any elected official I would probably hear nothing...if I asked two people that knew how the county operates they could give me some info. It's pathetic he could sit up there and stumble and stammer around about absolutely nothing and then try to convince someone of his nonsense. He got some lines out of Jeff Hughes book of wisdom.

Anonymous said...

Tell me more about the realtors using inside information. Who are they? I go to church with several realtors and quite honestly, they're good people. I keep hearing "Brett Fehrman", but others say "realtors" or "realtor/developers." Tell me names and what they've done. I don't like to knock all doctors because I know a bad one, or condem all Baptists because one of them did something wrong.

Anonymous said...

Ask the farmers in the NW quadrant who were solicited by realtors/developers with such inside information.

Fehrman was one. Red Apple another.

Ask around what realtors/developers are using their influence to push sewers on folks, who do not need them, to make their recent purchases more valuble.

As far as giving more precise information on this blog, one must be conscious of liable laws.

Anonymous said...

I know some commissioners who are incompetent and led around by their snouts by the DCEDI, but I would not tar Thompson with the same.

That would not be fair.

We are not talking about guilt by association here.

Obviously, most realtors have higher pedigrees than the ones mentioned so often in this blog.

Anonymous said...

Then we should say "Fehrman" or "Red Apple" instead of "realtors" or "realtor/developers". And if what we're saying can be proven, there's no liability involved. Too often in this blog, or in the community in general, it is "guilt by association." And that's just not right.

Anonymous said...

We need a complete housecleaning of our political bureaus.

The opportunities our inept politicians offer up, by their very incompetence, are just to tempting to the unethical few realtor/developers to remain remotely honest.

Anonymous said...

"And that's just not right. "

The way FOX and HUGHES conduct public business is just not right.

The way WEST and ROZOW try to hoodwink the public is just not right.

The way the CARY PICKENS ran the last election is just not right.

The way JOHNNY NUGENT supported the democrat last election is just not right.

And on...and on...and on...

There is an awful lot in this county that just is not right.

Anonymous said...

Open up public government to the public.

Make it right.

Anonymous said...

At least Hughes shows up. When Karen Shell held the office she was "ill" or "had a death in the family" every time there was something controversial to vote on. And Johnny Nugent has supported other democrats in the past. I know, because I forwarded a photo to the state Republicans showing the democrat candidate's signs in Johnny's yard.

Anonymous said...

Yet, Johnny feels the need to lie about whom he supports...and that is just not right.

As far as Hughes showing up...well...it would be better for most citizens of this county, who do not belong to the DCEDI, if Hughes would just stay home.

Anonymous said...

About Pickens ... I know he stepped down as leader of the Republican Central Committee, but who replaced him?

Anonymous said...

The name I heard is Morris that replaced Pickens.

And, unless he is willing to clean house and take to task Fox, Hughes, Nugent, et al, who supported a crony democrat shill last election...expect more of the same old, same old!!!

Just another DCEDI front man!!!

Anonymous said...

Everyone complains about the current officials and are never happy with the newly elected officials. Why don't the people complaining run for office?. That's how change happens.

Anonymous said...

Just because people go to church doesn't mean they are good honest people. Real Estate agents using information without telling their client is breaking "fiduciary responsibility"....correct? People that sell cars and don't tell all the facts they know are maybe not breaking the law but are being unethical right? Government officials tring to pull the wool over on people without public input may not be against the law but maybe a little unethical? If it doesn't smell right or feel right it's probably unethical.

Nice job, before we couldn't rely on the political system, now we can't rely on the religious system!

We're all gonna die and gonna go to hell!

Save me Jesus! Save me Tom Cruise!

Anonymous said...

Come out of the closet, Tom Cruise.

Bring Fox and Hughes with you!

Anonymous said...

Is Brett Fehrman still doing his Tom Cruise (Risky Business) dance in his parents' living room when they are away on vacation?

Anonymous said...

Unlike Tom Cruise's character, Brett still has his name stenciled on his underwear.

Brett's momma needs to let Brett grow up and be on his own.

Anonymous said...

Save me Jesus!

The DCEDI was heard to wimper as control of the NW Quadrant sliped through their fingers!!!

Brett was scene drowning his sorrows at a local Chucky Cheeze with his parents.

Anonymous said...

DCEDI sponsored signs seen around the county:

PRAISE LINKMEYER…JESUS IS ANTI-EVERYTHING!!!

Anonymous said...

Similiar to Tom Cruise, card-carrying members of the DCEDI also belong to a cult!

Anonymous said...

Why don't the people complaining run for office?

Funny you should mention that!

Last election, we ran a candidate in the Republican primary by the name of Thompson.

Maybe you heard of him?

He won the primary.

Then, now this is kinda funny, the bought and paid for Republican leadership went into a full blown, tantrum laced, hissy fit!

Sooooo…they ran a Democrat against the Republican Thompson!

Funny…

What Democrat will the Republican leadership run after the next primary?

The local GOP: CORRUPTION CENTRAL!

Anonymous said...

Sooooo…they ran a Democrat against the Republican Thompson!

Speaking of funny!

The Republican leadership, when questioned why they did not support Thompson, stated, with a straight face, mind you, that Thompson did not “run” his campaign through them so they could not support him!

But, somehow, they supported a Democrat, who must of run his campaign through the GOP ,in order to get the support of the GOP leadership and inebriated higher officer holders!

Go figure!

"BREAKING A FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITY" I don't know exactly what happened, but if the realtor was hired by a person or group to acquire properites, his client relationship is to the one(s) who hired him. He can't lie or mislead the property owners, but he has no agency relationship with them.

Anonymous said...

Bottom line:

Did Fehrman, armed with "inside" but public knowledge, imform the property owners of the "inside" public plans for their land?

("Public" meaning these very same farmers were supporting, with their tax dollars, the implementation of such plan, but not privy to its very details because they were not buddies with the corrupt polititicians and DCEDI membership of this county.)

If Fehrman did inform the landowners, then ok.

If not, then he is a snake.

Someone! Did Fehrman inform these landowners?

It is a simple question!

Anonymous said...

"BREAKING A FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITY"

Between public officials and the public they work for.

BREAKIING ONLY THOMPSON IS FOR OPENING UP THE "PUBLIC'S" BUSINESS BACK OPEN TO THE "PUBLIC!!!" VIESTE, DCEDI AND SMALL POTATOS, SUCH AS FEHRMAN, SUPPORTED THOSE WHO WOULD KEEP THE "PUBLIC" FROM THE "PUBLIC'S" BUSINESS!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

WHO WANTS TO RUN THE COUNTY?

This is a question the DCEDI, the Chamber and all the hogs feeding at the county trough, never had to ask themselves...until the election of Ralph Thompson!

Anonymous said...

Brett Fehrman, the altruistic sewer board member who would have us all “accept as true” that our septic tanks are killing us and sewers are our only liberator from death and destruction.

Especially, sewers in the vicinity of his latest farm purchase!

What a guy!!!

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Dennerline. Another altruistic sewer board member.

I believe he has a trailer park he would like serviced with sewer...cheaper for him than fixing the septic systems...especially if he can get the rest of us to subsidize "his" sewers!

Anonymous said...

"he can't lie or mislead property owners...." he has no agency relationship with them"

It's sad, very sad. This is what happened! Ask him to his face and he will lie looking you straight in your eye. Such a snake... Money is the root of all evil. Money is the root of all the problems in this County. More problems now WITH money than when the county had NO money.

Anonymous said...

This is what happened!

No one has certainly said otherwise!

The anecdotal information I have heard to date, is that he did not inform the landowners of the NW Quadrant plans.

Anonymous said...

Who is Fehrman and his ilk going to play "good ole boy" politics with once like minded folks such as Thompson take over more and more of local government?

He will have zero good will going for him.

His greed will finish him!

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the room where and when these smug bastards planned their little end run around the republican rank and file and encouraged Linkmeyer to run in Benning’s stead?

And again, same fly, same wall, same room, election night when Ralph won?

From smug bastards to incredulous smug bastards!!!

That must have been great!!!

Anonymous said...

Yeah that was great well so much
for fun to be sure he will not
win again even his friends hate him now. not a good commissioner.

Anonymous said...

Are you talking about Fox?

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on the wall...

What are these RINO stooges going to do next primary?

Threaten the rank and file republican primary voters with:

Vote for our prefered candidate or we will run another "hand-picked" democrat.

Anonymous said...

"Vote for our prefered candidate or we will run another "hand-picked" democrat."

Will they run another developer next time?

A realtor?

Or for a refreshing change of pace:

How about a realtor/developer who needs his or hers sewers subsidized by the taxpayers for their present and planned developments?

Yeah!!! That's the ticket!!!

Anonymous said...

...not a good commissioner.

Commissioner(s) There, fixed! (Fox and Hughes would make that plural).

Anonymous said...

Fox and Hughes bellowed that Thompson was "making it all up" concerning them and their RINO cronies' back office politics last primary.

Then, when their candidate lost, they hurried to the "back office" and put together a democratic candidate to run against the choice of the republican primary voters!

How funny is that?

Anonymous said...

"Who wants to run the county"?

I DO!

Anonymous said...
